Shine from Above

Classy Cards 'n Such has weekly card and paper crafting challenges. Each Monday a new challenge with rules are posted. It's a great way to share your card/project and you could even win a prize. Check it out!

This week I decided to surprise Beverly and the design team at Classy Cards 'n Such , and add a card to the challenge.

The Rainbow of Colors Challenge this week brings back memories of gorgeous rainbows I remember from years past. Who doesn't love a rainbow after a rain storm? The colors seem to glow in the sky. The memories of rainbows I have seen over the years, are what led to my card today.

For the base of the card, I used light purple cardstock.

For the main white cardstock panel, I taped in place the Memory Box stencil Texture Shine, over the panel. I didn't want to over power the panel with color, so I sponged in the first five areas of the stencil.

The colors used for the stencil are Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pads. Working left to right, the colors are Victorian Velvet, Broken China, Wild Honey, Spiced Marmalade and Spun Sugar. The ink pads for these colors are sold out, but the Tim Holtz Distress Ink Markers  in these colors are still available in the store.

The sentiment is from the JustRite Hugs and Kisses Sentiments stamp set. I used the Spellbinders Butterfly Circles for the die cut.

Product Review Kellycraft Laser Square

Hi Everyone!

A few weeks ago I scored a great deal for a Kellycraft Get-It-Straight Laser Square. I have to say I am very impressed with my new tool. In addition I also have the Multi-Mat that helps keep everything in place and straight. Read on for my product review!

After watching videos, I felt this was something I needed to help with my scrapbooking and card making. What a difference it has made in my crafting. I no longer need to use painters tape to tape down my page or my ruler. Here are photos of both:

 

When I received the laser square, I couldn't get it out of the packaging fast enough. I was excited. I had to tape down my page and the laser square to my counter top. Hmm. I wasn't too thrilled with that. I went ahead and tried out the laser square. On the right side of the laser is a ruler that has a slide tab, to move the laser up and down. It sticks a bit in two spots but I have been told that the more I use it, that it will glide over those 2 spots easier. It's something that occurs in manufacturing. Wow, this thing shoots a beam not only across the page, but the room also. So I went to the Kellycraft website and watched the videos. After reading the specifics, I still had questions.

I sent an email to Kellycraft in regards to the Laser Square and Multi-Mat. Imagine my surprise when Jimbo Kelly, president of Kellycraft called me. Talking with Jimbo Kelly on the phone, is like catching up with a very dear friend. He is so friendly and funny too!! He not only answered all my questions, but he also asked what types of crafting I do. So we decided I needed to try the Multi-Mat, but they weren't going to be in until the end of October. I mentioned that I had a big 3 day scrapbooking weekend coming up at the end of the month would be taking my laser square along. About 2 weeks later, Jimbo Kelly found out that the Multi-Mats were at the shipping company. He personally drove 67 miles to pick these up and mailed mine out the same day! WOW!! He called me to tell me it was on it's way. Talk about customer service!

With package in hand, I opened it up and imagine my surprise when I saw what else was in the package. Included were the Multi-Mags to mount to the bottom of the Laser Square and Camo Skins to decorate the top of the Laser Square.

The Multi-Mat is magnetic.  It comes with 4 very strong magnets to hold your papers to the mat. The mat is 12x12 and self healing. The white lines on the mat match up with the Laser Square. In addition it is mounted onto a magnetic platform.  If you look at the above photo, you will notice a "t-square" and that is where you mount the Laser Square. I think of it as a "docking station".  I attached the Multi-Mags to the bottom of the Laser Square, had to trim it a little bit for a nice, snug fit.  Now I don't have to tape down my papers or Laser Square because everything is held down magnetically!

I have already done pages for my scrapbooks and made greeting cards. Stamping is a breeze using the laser. Journaling is simple, just write on top of the laser beam and now my handwriting is nice and straight. Talk about easy!

Just Stamping Away

I'm still having fun with my new dies and stamps from Classy Cards 'n Such. The Flourish stamps are so pretty. 

The stamp set from Flourishes is called Autumn Blessings. It has so many pretty stamps and sentiments that are just perfect for the fall season and Thanksgiving. 

My card base starts with a Sage Green cardstock that I have in my paper collection. I used a scroll stamp that is from the With Sympathy stamp set by JustRite. 

I cut out the Spellbinders Basic Lattice from white cardstock and covered it with Tim Holtz Tea Die Distress pad. I wanted it to look like wood lattice. 

The ribbon has 3 tones of color, moss green, orange and a bit of yellow all blended together. It is just gorgeous. 

I stamped the wheelbarrow and sentiment from the Flourishes Autumn Blessings stamp set and colored it with my Copic markers.

For the final step, I used two different sizes of the Spellbinders Labels Three dies and die cut the stamped images from white cardstock. The layer below the images is a paper from Graphic 45 called Twelve Days of Christmas 6" x 6" paper pad.

Give Thanks

This past weekend I've been busy playing with new papers and dies that I ordered from Classy Cards 'n Such. There are tons of new things in the store. From paper pads to dies and more, you really need to check it out. 

Since I love the colors of fall, I couldn't resist ordering the one of the new Flourishes stamps sets. This one is called Autumn Blessings. Both the main panel and sentiment are from this  gorgeous stamp set. I colored with my Copic markers. They blend so well together.

The background papers are from the Bo Bunny collection called Autumn Song. This paper pad has gorgeous papers for any type of fall card. 

I used Spellbinders Lacy Square dies for my panels. 

The ribbon is from American Crafts fall collection. 

All perfect colors for fall!

New Inspiration

One of my goals for the new year is to craft more. Since October I lost most of my oomph for crafting after losing my dog, Pepper. Since the week of Christmas, it has been busy around here with the new puppy and she really keeps us busy, especially me. Mommy's new shadow. She gives me hope that we will have many, many years together. She really has pulled me out of a slump.

With Valentine's day coming in a few weeks, I decided to start making a few cards for some very special people. Here is a card that I made to send to my parents from the doggies.


Step Ladder Card

I used all SU supplies: Real Read & Whisper White Cardstock, Love You Much stamp set, and a Fiskar's Heart border punch. The tiny hearts are from what was punched out of the border punch. I wrote a message on the back of the card. For the heart I stamped it in Versamark and Real Red ink. I added Dazzling Diamonds glitter and embossing powder and heat seat that. Inside the main heart I added a little clear color diamond which really looks neat! I think it's super cute!
